There is a structure, there is a lamp at the top, the lamp turns through the night, and somewhere out at sea a small boat takes a slightly different decision because of it. The whole arrangement was perfected a hundred and fifty years ago and nobody has thought of a better one. Most of the world has stopped paying attention. The lighthouses have not.
